The elementary school curriculum is comprehensive and focuses on developing strong foundational skills in English Language Arts, Mathematics, UAE and US Social Studies, Arabic Language, Islamic Education, Moral Education, Science, Information Technology, Physical Education, Art, and Music. Like the Kindergarten curriculum, the elementary curriculum is developed to ensure that all children succeed, including those who develop at different rates. It continues to be active, social, integrated and seeks to capitalize on children’s natural curiosity and desire to explore the world around them.
In order to ensure rigor, and a comprehensive depth of coverage, the curriculum in English Language Arts and Mathematics incorporates as much of the existing ‘Engage New York’ (ENY) curriculum as is culturally appropriate.
The ENY curriculum has been developed based on the state’s most recently adopted standards. A full complement of modules, plans, and materials for teaching these subjects is available online at
The science curriculum ensures that all students receive hands-on, exploratory and engaging instruction in all of the specified domains of the science standards (Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, and Engineering/Design).
In all subject areas there is an emphasis on academic rigor and high standards through an inquiry- based curriculum which is designed to enable students to gain an in-depth understanding of concepts and skills.
The curriculum will be organized around themes and topics that authentically connect the various subjects. Students will engage in experiential learning opportunities both in the school and as much as possible within the wider community. This approach will build real-world connections to their learning, as well as learn about the Emirati culture.
