The curriculum framework of the Arabic Language is fully compliant with the UAE National Curriculum. It is innovative in its approach, inquiry-based and focuses on relevant, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.

Learning Arabic as a first language starts at grade 1 and is a compulsory course for Arab Nationals from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Learning Arabic as a foreign language is mandatory for students from grade 1 to Grade 9.

Arab students follow the standards set in the National Curriculum Document for Arabic as a first language and use the MOE prescribed textbooks as a primary resource in their curriculum.

Non-Arab students follow the curriculum standards and expectations set in the 2017/2018 MOE framework for Arabic as an additional language and use the MOE prescribed textbooks as the main resource in their curriculum.

Arab students are expected to study the following lessons during curriculum time:   Non-Arab students are expected to study the Arabic Language for the following curriculum time:
  • Grades 1, 2 & 3 at least 240 minutes per week
  • Grades 4, 5 & 6 at least 200 minutes per week
  • Grades 7 to 12 at least 160 minutes per week
 
  • Grades 1 to 9 at least 160 minutes per week*

To further enhance the high-quality offerings of Arabic and Islamic in Dubai schools, we have weaved enrichment and innovation programs alongside the Arabic and Islamic curriculum, during school assemblies and school activities.

Dubai Schools Al Barsha strives to improve the cultural experiences for all members of the school community through its implementation of a variety of activities that support the Arabic language and Islamic culture through annual inter-school competitions for:

  1. Arabic Speaking
  2. Holy Quran recitation and memorization
  3. Arabic creative writing
